Born on the first day of 1956, in the family of waving community, Mathivanan M.S., Son of Shri. Marichettiar Subamaniam and Smt. Pankajam did his schooling Komarapalayam.

With profound zeal and quest of knowledge, he has various Diplomas, Degrees to his credit. He has Master’s Degree in Commerce from Madras University, a Master’s Degree in Economics through Sri Venkateswara University, M.Phil in Financial Management and Doctorate in Home Furnishing through Bharathiar University. He is the fellow of World Academy of Productivity Sciences, awarded at the 14th World Productivity Council, Shenyang, China.

An industrialist turned philanthropist, he has attended various national and international seminars on textile and productivity.

He has presented a research paper on techno economical matters and international marketing scenario of wattle extracts in the leather tanning industry.
On various occasions and the various national and international gatherings, he has submitted several of his research papers on the textile industries, particularly the powerloom industry, their export prospects and benefits and developmental activities.

He has been part of the sub-committee of planning of the XIth Planning Commission of Government of India.

During his tenure as Chairman of Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council (set by the Ministry of Textiles), he has suggested several welfare schemes for the powerloom manufactures as well as the exporters of powerloom products. He has organized several Buyer-Seller Meets in different cities of India as well as abroad making a platform for the textile products manufactured in powerloom. Because of his tireless efforts, PDEXCIL has made a mark of prominence among the other sister councils set by the Government of India. During his tenure, the urged the Textile Ministry to create a Mega Cluster for the textile industry in Erode as Erode is the prominent place as far as textile in concerned and because of continued efforts, the Government of India sanctioned two mega clusters one Erode and another in Ikchalkaranji for Textile oriented activities.

He is recipient of several awards at the national level and international forums, the Tamil Nadu Junior Chamber of Commerce chose him as the Youth of the Year Award.

The social responsibility that he has contributed speaks volumes of his involvement in the development underprivileged people, particularly the children who are put to the hardship of going to work as labourers at their tender age. With UNICEF and the World Council of Services Club, he had jointly promoted the conversation of ‘rights of child’ at the United Nations and as a Asia Pacific Regional Chairman, was invited for the conference and was a signatory of the Convention of Rights of Child and presented it to the United Nations in the year 1989.

He is bestowed with the coveted title of ‘Cavaliere’ at the Royal Palace, Italy by his Royal Highness, His Excellency, Don Francisco ‘D’ Amiro by the sovereign constantinian by the order of St. George Knight of Merit. He is the First Indian and First non-Christian in the world to receive the Grand Cross Cavalier Title.

He has presented three research papers at the World Productivity Congress.

  • “Productivity in Capital Knowledge and Human Resources” at the World Productivity Congress held at Sweden.

  • “Leadership Effectiveness and Organizational Success”, at Istanbul, Turkey in 1995.

  • Participated and presented a paper on “Corporate Governance Enhancing Productivity in a Global Era” in the World Productivity Congress held at Shenyang, China in October 2006. Where he was awarded the Fellowship.

World Enterprise Day 2008: Participated as a Moderator in the World Enterprise Day held at Tunisia in the year 2008.

World Computer Conference 2008: Participated and presented a paper at the World Computer Conference held at Milan, Italy in 2008 on The Strategic Value of Professional Competences for India. He has presented the following papers in the International Conference of UICEE (UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education) held at Mumbai, 2004 and Oman 2006.

  • Social & Philosophical Aspects of Technology and its impact on Modern Societies.

A strong educationalist, he is member of the UICEE (UNESCO International Centre for Engineering Education), which has its office in Melbourne, Australia.

He is very much interested in Yoga and Karate and is the recipient of II Dan Black Belt in Karate given by the International Kyokusin Kai Karte Do Japan.

He is also involved and sits on the Board of many Government and Non-Governmental Organizations.
